Roma earns narrow win in Kaiserslautern friendly
Serie A side Roma came away from a pre-season friendly with 2. Bundesliga host Kaiserslautern with a 1-0 win to boost confidence ahead of the upcoming season.
Evan Ferguson scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute, pouncing on a loose touch from goalkeeper Julian Krahl, who failed to adequately deal with a backpass.
Roma had the better of the chances throughout in front of a packed house at Fritz-Walter-Stadion, but could not add to the scoreline.
That almost came back to bite the visitors on the hour when Daniel Hanslik dinked in a perfect cross for Ivan Prtajin, but his header went wide when it looked easier to score.
Roma will start its Serie A season with a home clash with Bologna on 24 August (AEST) while Kaiserslautern will kick off another bid for promotion to Germany's top flight with a trip to Hannover 96 on 3 August (AEST).
