Rodri to discuss Man City future after the World Cup
Rodri will "wait until the World Cup is over" before discussing his future at Manchester City.
The 29 year-old has enjoyed a remarkable career with City, winning four Premier League titles, three Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.
His role in City's midfield under Pep Guardiola, as well as his exploits for Spain in their successful Euros campaign, earned him the Ballon d'Or award in 2024.
Since Rodri joined City ahead of the 2019-2020 season, it has won 71.5 percent of games in which the Spaniard has appeared, compared to 62.8 percent of matches without him.
But Rodri, whose contract expires in June 2027, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid after presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme outlined his desire to bring him to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Those rumours have only gained traction after Guardiola's exit, though Rodri is focused on his World Cup campaign with Spain for the time being.
"We're here to talk about the World Cup," Rodri told reporters during the national team's media day. "In terms of my future, I'll wait until the World Cup is over.
"It's normal, it's a part of football, names of players being linked to particular clubs. I'm focused, I'm captain of the national team. My responsibility is to accept it.
"I'm a leader in the group, my only job is to help Spain win this World Cup. I won't waste time on all that, and after the World Cup, we'll see."
"I'm very happy and excited. I was just joking that it's the first time I've arrived fresh, and without so many games.
"I've been able to overcome everything. I'm coming in with less rhythm, but fewer matches under my belt."
