Big names added to Socceroos training camp
Parma defender Alessandro Circati and Levante 'keeper Mat Ryan are among the eight players added to the Australia's train-on squad for its 2026 FIFA World Cup pre-camp.
Circati and Ryan are joined in the Socceroos' camp by Lucas Herrington (Colorado Rapids), Kye Rowles (DC United), Paul Okon-Engstler (Sydney FC), Tete Yengi (Machida Zelvia, on loan from Livingston) and Kai Trewin (New York City).
Also among the additions is Castellon attacker Awer Mabil, whose club sits sixth - the final promotion play-off position - in LaLiga 2 ahead of the final match of its season.
Daniel Bennie (QPR), Raphael Borges Rodrigues (Wigan Athletic, on loan from Coventry City), Anthony Caceres (Macarthur FC), Mitch Duke (Macarthur FC), Dylan Leonard (Schalke), Alex Robertson (Cardiff City), Gianni Stensness (Viking) and Ante Suto (Hibernian) were released from the training camp.
The final 2026 FIFA World Cup squad of up to 26 players is due to be submitted to FIFA by 1 June.
The Socceroos face World Cup co-host Mexico at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on 30 May, before taking on Switzerland at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego on 6 June.
Australia's World Cup campaign begins against Turkiye in Vancouver on 13 June. Drawn in Group D, the Socceroos will also face tournament co-host United States in Seattle on 19 June and Paraguay on 25 June.
The new arrivals join Patrick Beach (Melbourne City), Aziz Behich (Melbourne City), Brandon Borrello (Western Sydney Wanderers), Jordan Bos (Feyenoord), Martin Boyle (Hibernian), Cameron Burgess (Swansea City), Milos Degenek (APOEL), Cameron Devlin (Hearts), Joe Gauci (Port Vale, on loan from Aston Villa), Jason Geria (Albirex Niigata), Ajdin Hrustic (Heracles Almelo), Nestory Irankunda (Watford), Jackson Irvine (St Pauli), Jacob Italiano (Grazer AK), Paul Izzo (Randers), Mathew Leckie (Melbourne City), Connor Metcalfe (St Pauli), Aiden O’Neill (New York City), Harry Souttar (Leicester City), Mohamed Toure (Norwich City), and Nishan Velupillay (Melbourne Victory) in the 29-player train-on squad.
