Super-sub Copetti claims late win for Central
Enzo Copetti ame off the bench to grab a late win as Rosario Central claimed a 1–0 victory over Libertad at La Huerta, delivering a blow to the Paraguayan side's hopes of progressing from Group H in the Copa Libertadores.
Libertad came into the match with the urgency of a team that had lost on the road in Matchday 1, desperately seeking its first points of the campaign on home soil.
The Paraguayan host had goalkeeper Angel Gonzalez to thank for keeping the score level early on. Alejo Veliz connected with a precise cross from Agustín Sandez to send a well-directed header towards goal, only for Gonzalez to produce a fine save and push the ball to safety.
Libertad struggled to find a consistent attacking threat, and its vulnerability was exposed late in the game.
Enzo Gimenez, who played a short ball wide to Emanuel Coronel, slipped a pass through for Copetti, and the Argentinean striker found himself with time and space to drive a right-foot effort across goal to beat Gonzalez.
Libertad remains bottom of the group after this defeat, its second in two matches so far. Central, meanwhile, moved to the top of the pile with frou points from its two matches.
