Racing crushes Bucaramanga to take control
Racing Club thrashed Atletico Bucaramanga 0-4 to take the top spot in Group E of the Copa Libertadores, moving one step closer to the round of 16.
Under the guidance of Gustavo Costas, the Argentine side took control from the start. Just four minutes in, Adrian Martínez capitalised on a defensive mistake to open the scoring. Racing kept up the pressure and delivered the knockout blows in the second half.
Santiago Solari made it 0-2 in the 56th minute, and Santiago Sosa extended the lead further in the 69th. In stoppage time, Martin Barrios sealed the rout with a fourth goal in the 94th minute, completing a commanding victory for “La Academia.”
The host, coached by Leonel Alvarez, offered little threat throughout the match. It's best chance came from a free kick taken by Argentine midfielder Fabian Sambueza, which hit the post.
With the win, Racing moves to seven points and now leads the group. Bucaramanga remains on five points.
