Nicolas Lopez will rue a late miss from directly in front of goal that would have sent Club Nacional through to the Copa Sudamericana as the third-placed in Copa Libertadores Group F on goal difference.
The Uruguayan team edged out Colombian rival Atletico Nacional 1-0, but the win wasn't enough to overtake third-placed Bahia on goal difference, after its 2-1 loss to fellow Brazilian club Internacional.
Enter Lopez, who was gifted the ball directly in front of the goal in the dying seconds of the match, the Uruguayan flashing his shot inches wide of the right post.
Had his shot gone in, Nacional would have overtaken Bahia and claimed the Sudamericana position.
