Burnley started well at Turf Moor as Jamie Vardy scored his first goal for the club, but the Clarets gifted goals to Fer Lopez and Chirewa as Wolves piled more misery on Clarets boss Nicky Hayen.

After Jean-Ricner Bellegarde fired off-target in the second minute, it was all Burnley with Vardy forcing Jose Sa into a sharp, low save after a pacy counter-attack.

Vardy gave Wolves another warning before he then broke the deadlock 20 minutes in. Burnley worked it well down the left, with Jacob Bruun Larsen spinning to tee up the 39-year-old, who ghosted between the centre-backs to fire past Sa.

Largie Ramazani and Bruun Larsen both had chances to add to their tally, but only the latter hit the target, with Sa making a comfortable save to deny him.

Wolves rode out the pressure over the first half an hour before flipping momentum in their favour. Kyle Walker gave the ball away cheaply, and Sean Neave picked out Lopez, whose shot snuck in off the foot of the near post.

Bruun Larsen cleared the crossbar after the break, with Gregoire Coudert then pushing away a Lopez free-kick before making a double save to keep out Said and Jackson Tchatchoua.

But 72 minutes in, Burnley were punished for another mistake. Igor Julio took a heavy touch coming out of defence, and Mateus Mane picked out Chirewa's driving run, with his shot bouncing in off the underside of the bar just 21 seconds after his introduction.

Armando Broja slid in to rattle the crossbar but Lucas Pires had been offside in the build-up, and Burnley could not find an equaliser as its torrid home form dragged on.

It is nearly a year to the day that Burnley fans were given a win to cheer at Turf Moor, and after a promising first 30 minutes gave them hope, the mood soon soured.

It has now failed to win any of its past 21 home league games since a 2-0 win over Leeds United in the Premier League in October last year. It is the current longest streak across England's top four tiers.

While Burnley still only has one win to its name in the league this term, Wolves have avoided three consecutive losses and have moved up into sixth ahead of the rest of the weekend's games.
