Relieved Robins pinch last play-off place
Bristol City survived a scare to ensure a share of the spoils with relegation-threatened Preston North End and secure the last place in the promotion play-offs.
Emil Rijs and Milutin Osmajic had put the Lilywhites 2-0 to the good in the 60th minute at Ashton Gate.
But Ross McCrorie scored twice in the space of five minutes to give the Robins the point they needed to edge out Blackburn Rovers for sixth spot after the Lancashire side was held to a 1-1 draw by third-place Sheffield United.
The Blades will be Bristol City's first hurdle in the play-offs, but the Robins will play the first leg at home on Friday 9 May (AEST) before travelling to Yorkshire for the second leg on Tuesday 13 May (AEST).
