Ipswich, Southampton and Derby boost play-off hopes
Ipswich Town moved to withing just two points of third-placed Millwall in the EFL Championship after a comfortable 3-0 win over Swansea City kept it firmly in the promotion play-off picture.
Hull City had moved above Ipswich after beating Portsmouth 1-0 earlier in the day, thanks to Matt Crooks, but the Tractor Boys went back in front after goals from Anis Mehmeti, Ivan Azon and George Hirst.
"A good performance. I thought the boys went at it with a lot of humility, recognised exactly what the opponent was and what we needed to do," Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna said.
"There were some lovely passages of play against a good opponent who contributed to the game as well."
Southampton and Derby County also boosted their play-off hopes with respective 3-1 wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers.
At the other end of the table, Oxford United moved within three points of safety, and opponent West Bromwich Albion, after edging past its fellow relegation fighter 2-1, with Will Lankshear netting the deciding goal at Kassam Stadium.
