Daka rescues vital point for Leicester
Patson Daka rescued a crucial point for Leicester City as it drew 2-2 with Preston North End to keep within touching distance of safety in the EFL Championship.
The Foxes are 22nd on the table, but managed to stay within a point of Portsmouth, which drew 1-1 with Norwich City, thanks to Daka's late show.
Having opened the scoring through Daka in the fourth minute at King Power Stadium, the Foxes fell behind as Preston struck through Andrew Moran and Benjamin Whiteman before half-time.
But Daka equalised in the 81st minute, capitalising on a defensive mix-up.
Leicester had 28 shots and put 10 of those on target, but ultimately the Foxes will need more bite if they are to stay up.
They have won just one of their past 14 league games, losing seven and drawing six, and with Portsmouth having a game in hand, and West Bromwich Albion now four points ahead, the pressure is on to avoid back-to-back relegations.
If Leicester is to get out of trouble, Daka could be crucial. His goals came from four shots, three of which were on target, while he also created three chances.
"We were excellent," Leicester boss Gary Rowett said.
"I know Preston will say they made two mistakes for our goals, but when you've had 28 shots and the keeper's made countless saves, you would always feel as though you should have won the game."
Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom rued his side's mistakes for both Leicester goals.
"We created all four goals," he said.
"For us to give them two goals the way we did, to just get that point is really, really frustrating."
