Coventry thrashes Millwall to stay unbeaten
Haji Wright netted a double as Coventry City maintained its unbeaten start to the EFL Championship season with an emphatic 4-0 win away at Millwall.
The writing was on the wall when the visitors hit the woodwork in the early stages, and Wright put them ahead in the 29th minute when he tapped in from a Brandon Thomas-Asante cutback.
Wright scored Coventry's second in the 66th minute with a powerful head and two goals in the last 10 minutes from Ellis Simms and Kaine Kesler-Hayden saw Frank Lampard's men come home with a wet sail.
Coventry has 16 points from eight games to sit second on the Championship table, two points behind leader Middlesbrough, the only other undefeated side in the division.
"An outstanding performance at a tough place to come where they don't get beaten much," Lampard said.
"The focus of the team was great. As a complete performance from high pressing and a bit of control in the first half to being a bit more compact and dangerous in the transition, the team showed a couple of different faces today and good ones.
"We work really hard – we've seen progress for sure and I think the fans are relating to what they're seeing on the pitch with the players, their focus, their passion.
"It's going to be difficult to be where we want to be this season because of the size of our squad and the challenges that come with this league, but if we can keep this togetherness and keep playing we can have a chance."
