Kingsley Coman leaves Bayern Munich for Al-Nassr
France forward Kingsley Coman has joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr from Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich on a three-year deal, the two clubs have confirmed.
“Al-Nassr ... officially signed a contract with the French star Kingsley Coman”, an Al-Nassr statement posted to X read. “Coman’s contract will be valid until 2028.”
The 29-year-old forward joined Bayern on loan from Juventus in 2015 before the transfer was made permanent two years later.
“Ten years after first joining Bayern, Kingsley Coman has left Munich to join Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia,” the Bavarian club's website reported.
Coman won nine Bundesliga titles, the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup at Bayern. He scored the winner in the 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the 2020 UEFA Champions League final.
For Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, Coman's departure may be emotional, coming shortly after club talisman Thomas Muller's move to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Vancouver Whitecaps after 25 years at Bayern, but his team is focused on the season start.
"I think that King showed over the years at Bayern what player he was. When such a successful player leaves the club, it is always emotional," Kompany said as his side prepares for the DFB Supercup against Stuttgart.
"I think for me it is important to look ahead, show respect for Kingsley Coman and for what he achieved for the club. But my feeling is the lads who are here are the priority, and they have to work towards success."
There has been no change, however, in the status of 23-year-old Germany international Nick Woltemade with Bayern's Supercup opponent Stuttgart having rejected the latest Bayern bid for the talented forward, who wants to join the German champion.
"There has been so much talk about it, about deadlines, figures and so on," Freund said. "We have never commented on the matter. There is nothing new. Tomorrow he is playing for Stuttgart where he is under contract and it does not make sense to restart any speculation."
The Bundesliga season starts next weekend, with Bayern hosting RB Leipzig on Saturday (AEST).
