Hamann says Kane will not break Lewandowski record
Harry Kane will not break Robert Lewandowski's Bundesliga record and will only score seven more goals for Bayern Munich this season, Dietmar Hamann predicted.
England captain Kane has been a prolific finisher since joining Bayern in 2023, scoring 115 goals and setting up another 27 in 121 appearances in all competitions.
He has struck 19 times in 15 Bundesliga outings this season, putting him on track to challenge Robert Lewandowski's record haul of 41 in the 2020-2021 season.
However, former Bayern and Liverpool midfielder Hamann, who has long been critical of the 32 year-old striker, does not anticipate him getting close to achieving the feat.
"Kane will not break Lewandowski's record and will finish the season with 26 goals," Hamann said as part of a string of quick-fire predictions.
Lothar Matthaus was offering his opinions alongside Hamann and took the opposite view.
"This season, it really looks like [he can break it]. If everything goes as he and FC Bayern want and Kane doesn't get injured, 45 goals are possible," said Matthaus.
Kane will look to find his 20th Bundesliga goal of the season when Bayern return from the mid-season break with a home match against Wolfsburg on 11 January.
