Freiburg finds late leveller in six-goal thriller
Michael Gregoritsch’s late equaliser saw Freiburg fight back to draw 3-3 against Eintracht Frankfurt in a Bundesliga thriller at Europa-Park Stadion.
Omar Marmoush had put the visitors ahead in the 27th minute before Ritsu Doan equalised three minutes later.
In a frantic spell, Ansgar Knauff had Frankfurt back in front on 35 inutes, but a penalty in stoppage-time at the end of the first half allowed Vincenzo Grifo to level matters for a second time.
Play was halted midway through the second half because of protests from fans, which saw remote-controlled planes flown around the stadium while sweets were thrown on to the pitch behind one of the goals.
When the action resumed, Knauff’s second goal of the game had Frankfurt back in front at 3-2 with 20 minutes left.
But Gregoritsch was on hand to head home a last-minute equaliser, leaving both sides with a point apiece, which leaves Frankfurt sixth on the table and Freiburg in eighth, level on points with seventh-placed Werder Bremen.
