FC Union appoints female coach in Bundesliga first
Marie-Louise Eta will become the first female assistant coach in Bundesliga history after joining incoming FC Union manager Marco Grote's coaching staff.
Eta's appointment comes in the wake of Urs Fischer's departure as manager amid a run of Bundesliga losses that sees the Berlin club mired at the foot of the table.
The managerial shake-up comes at the tail end of a hugely successful period for FC Union, which earned promotion in 2019.
In the three years since, FC Union has secured qualification for the Europa Conference League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League in consecutive seasons.
