Dortmund undone again as Stuttgart runs riot
Borussia Dortmund suffered a second successive loss in the bundesliga, going down 2-1 to Stuttgart in the battle of third versus fourth, just a week after the pain of a Klassiker defeat to Bayern Munich.
Dortmund went ahead against the run of play through Niklas Fullkrug after Stuttgart had a penalty and several other opportunities beatn away by visiting goalkeeper and former player Gregor Kobel.
Deniz Undav finally broke through in the 42 minute to level matters, and Serhou Guirassy, whose profilfic form has been the main driver of Stuttgart's early success this season, won and converted a second penalty seven minutes from time to seal a deserved result.
Dortmund is now eight points off top spot, which was taken by Bayern after its 4-2 win over Heidenheim. Stuttgart is five points adrift, while second-placed Bayer Leverkusen will look to regain the hot seat when it meets Union Berlin on Monday (AEST), with just a point separating it from Bayern.
