Bayern gives Muller winning send-off
Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich crushed Hoffenheim 4-0 in the final match of the season, giving Thomas Muller a winning send-off as Harry Kane was crowned the league's top striker for a second straight season.
Bayern secured the title two weeks ago but was ready to round off its celebrations in style when Michael Olise whipped in a fierce free-kick to give it a 33rd-minute lead.
Olise, who has enjoyed a brilliant first season in Germany, then turned provider as he fed Joshua Kimmich to power in Bayern's second goal eight minutes after the restart.
Kane was initially on the bench but he was introduced on the hour, replacing legendary attacking midfielder Muller, who made his 503rd and final Bundesliga appearance for Bayern and received a great reception when substituted.
Kane already held a five-goal lead over Borussia Dortmund's Serhou Guirassy in the Golden Boot race, and he was determined to make an impact on the final matchday.
The England captain hit the post shortly after his introduction before providing Serge Gnabry with an assist for Bayern's third goal.
Kane, who won the first major title of his career when Bayern clinched the title, did find the target in the 86th minute, slotting in from close range for his 26th league goal of the season.
Hoffenheim entered the game knowing a heavy defeat could have proven costly, with Heidenheim having the chance to overtake it with a win over Werder Bremen and drop it into the promotion-relegation play-off place.
However, those fears were eased early on as Heidenheim went 2-0 down by half-time in its game, eventually losing 4-1.
Heidenheim will now play the third-placed team from the 2. Bundesliga for a place in next season's top flight, with Hoffenheim finishing three points clear of them in 15th.
