Late Vidal winner puts Oviedo in play-off box seat
A double from right back Nacho Vidal ensured Real Oviedo would travel back home with a 2-1 advantage in its LaLiga 2 promotion play-off semi-final tussle with Almeira.
Vidal scored the winner with a diving header in the third minute of stoppage-time to give the visitors a vital lead in the first leg, having opened the scoring on 14 minutes when he pounced on a rebound at close range.
Almeira responded to the opened immediately when Sergio Arribas fired home two minutes after Vidal had scored, but ultimately it could not find another goal at home to secure the win, handing the visitors a significant advantage ahead of next Thursday's (AEST) second leg.
The other semi-final kicks off on Monday (AEST) when Real Racing Club hosts Mirandes.
