Can's positive test won't stop Revierderby
The first Revierderby of the season can still go ahead despite Borussia Dortmund midfielder Emre Can testing positive for coronavirus.
Dortmund announced on Saturday (AEDT) that Can had returned a positive result prior to its meeting with arch-rival Schalke at Signal Iduna Park in the Bundesliga on Sunday (AEDT).
However, with the Germany international isolating at home and the rest of the team and staff testing negative, BVB assured its meeting with Schalke can go ahead.
"Borussia Dortmund player Emre Can tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday [Saturday AEDT]. The Germany player, who was unable to take part in the [UEFA] Champions League trip to Rome [to face Lazio on Wednesday AEDT] is asymptomatic and in domestic isolation," a statement issued by the club read.
"After a thorough exchange with the Dortmund health department, the training session before the Revierderby ... was postponed to 18:30 [CET]. Nothing stands in the way of the match being played.
"Borussia Dortmund wishes Emre Can a continued symptom-free experience and a speedy recovery."
