VIDEO | Bayer Leverkusen Advances to the Europa League Grand Final
With another goal in the dying moments of the match (90+7’) by Croatian player Josip Stanisic, Bayer Leverkusen made it to the UEFA Europa League final this Thursday after drawing 2-2 at home against Roma. They capitalized on their 0-2 away victory from the first leg, securing a 4-2 aggregate advantage.
Two penalties, one in the 43rd minute and another in the 66th, both converted by Argentine Leandro Paredes, made it tough for Leverkusen. Despite being the dominant team, Leverkusen saw their first-leg lead slip away.
However, in the 83rd minute, Leverkusen got a lifeline with an own goal by Mancini from a corner taken by Jeremie Frimpong.
In stoppage time at 97 minutes, Josip Stasinic scored the equalizer, not only securing Leverkusen's spot in the final but also extending their unbeaten streak to 49 matches across all competitions.
