Wenger Explains Why Bellingham Will Define an Era in Football
Former Arsenal coach compared the English player to Zinedine Zidane. He said the player has something Zidane didn't.
Jude Bellingham was one of the key players in Real Madrid's victory over Bayern Munich, which secured the white team's ticket to the Champions League final at Wembley.
The England international, who will face his former team in the final, had an outstanding performance on the field and earned praise from everyone.
In this context, Arsène Wenger was astute in explaining why Bellingham is on his way to shaping an era in football. "I would say Bellingham is a mix of Zidane plus a physically powerful player. He is Zidane with power," he said to beIN SPORTS. He compared him to a Rolls-Royce, saying "he glides through with power without looking to make an effort."
While Wenger noted that the Englishman is slightly less skilled in his first touch than the Frenchman, he compensates for it with a stronger scoring ability.
Another advantage for the English player, according to Wenger, is his age. "Zidane arrived at Real Madrid at 29," compared to Bellingham's 20 years old. "At that age, Zizou was playing at Cannes."
