Thomas Müller Praises Real Madrid
Bayern Munich's attacking midfielder, Thomas Müller, stated in an interview on the club's website that it's no coincidence that Real Madrid has repeatedly reached the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League in recent years, describing the white team as "highly dangerous," although he sees possibilities of beating them.
"Real Madrid has many facets. They can defend deep, they have no problem defending. However, they know they have excellent players to counterattack. This idea has often worked for them. It's no coincidence that they have repeatedly reached the semifinals in recent years," he said.
"Madrid is highly dangerous but can be played against. Whether we can defeat them depends on whether we can score or not," he added.
According to Müller, the match will be on equal terms, and much will depend on the effectiveness of both teams.
"It's a matter of millimeters, what's decisive is being effective when we create opportunities," he assured.
Müller also expressed curiosity about seeing the new Santiago Bernabéu after having played several times in the stadium before its renovation.
"I'm curious to see how it will be; the stadium has been renovated. What has always fascinated me about the Bernabéu is that it's in the middle of the city; you turn a corner with houses where people live, and suddenly you're in a stadium with a capacity of 80,000 people," he commented.
"In Madrid, football is something very important. You notice that in these kinds of matches," he explained.
For Müller, it's important that Bayern fans going to Madrid make themselves heard at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"Just because you know the stadium belongs to Madrid, it's important that our indomitable Bavarians show themselves and put some red stains in the midst of the white circle," the German emphasized.
