RB Leipzig Prepared to Host Real Madrid in Champions League Round of 16
The wait is over, one of the most anticipated tournaments for football fans is back – the Champions League. On Tuesday, February 13, Leipzig and Real Madrid will go head-to-head in the round of 16.
For this match, the favoritism leans towards the Spanish team. Based on quality and past performances, Madrid should be considered the favorite to advance to the next round. However, the German team could pose a threat and eliminate the team led by the Italian Carlo Ancelotti if they capitalize on their opportunities.
Within the Real Madrid lineup, the absence of the starting goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, three out of the four injured center-backs (with Nacho Fernández recently recovered for the occasion), and Jude Bellingham as a differential factor mark Real Madrid's return to the Champions League. They are alert due to the warning that Leipzig gave them in the group stage of the previous edition, but also with the undeniable firmness provided by Carlo Ancelotti in the round of 16.
With the ease that comes from having almost secured LaLiga EA Sports, after initiating the countdown to become champions, following a resounding victory over Girona in the clash for the top spot and witnessing the downturn of their direct rivals, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid returns to its favorite territory – the 'Champions League.'
It's worth recalling that, in the previous edition of the Champions League, both teams faced each other in the group stage. In the first leg, the German team won 3-2 against the Whites. However, Madrid would secure the second leg with a 2-0 score at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
