Kane: "It has Been a Disappointing Season"
The forward for Bayern Munich, Harry Kane, expressed that his team must take advantage of the lessons from the first leg match (2-2) against Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals and try to better control ball possession. He also described not winning anything this season as a "disappointment."
"We need to learn from the first leg match. We defended well and made things difficult for them. Tomorrow, we have the support of our fans, and we can control possession better and create more chances," said Kane.
Kane lamented the injuries to Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman and indicated that it didn't matter who his attacking partner would be tomorrow: "It doesn't matter who I play with tomorrow. My game is my game. Everyone who has played this season has contributed. We are focused on tomorrow's match."
Although Kane admitted that the season has been disappointing due to losing the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, he considered the German league a good experience for him. Now the goal is to finish second in the domestic league and continue advancing in the Champions League.
"It has been a disappointing season. We haven't reached our level as a team. Of course, every player and club wants to win titles; that's the ultimate goal. But there needs to be a process. You want to improve as a player and show the world what you're capable of. You push yourself to the limit and hope that benefits the team. From the club's perspective, it would be a disappointment not to win anything, but all we can do is look to the next season and try to change it," he commented.
Bayern lost all chance of defending the Bundesliga title last weekend, which was claimed by Bayer Leverkusen led by Xabi Alonso. Additionally, they were knocked out in the early rounds of the German Cup and lost the German Super Cup at the beginning of the season. Therefore, the only opportunity to win a title lies in the Champions League.
"You can do many things right during a season and still lose. The most important thing is that we can still turn this into a great season if we win the Champions League. If we do something special this Wednesday, we'll keep that dream alive. We have the chance to keep the season alive tomorrow," he added.
Regarding the possible arrival of Julian Nagelsmann as coach for the next season, Kane didn't want to commit.
"I don't know him well, and I'm not aware of the situation with the coaches. I only know that Thomas (Tuchel) is here until the end of the season, and that's what matters. The club will make a decision, and I'm sure they're considering options. We need to respect Thomas and try to finish the season in the best possible way."
