Fenerbahce and Cengiz Under Thrash Istanbulspor
The contrast between the league leaders and the bottom team couldn't have been more evident than in the game between Fenerbahce and Istanbulspor during Matchday 18 of the Süper Lig. The leaders triumphed 5-1 against the hosts, who had little to offer.
At the historic Atatürk Olympic Stadium, forward Cengiz Under became the hero by scoring a poker of goals (four goals) in the match. The Turkish player only needed 46 minutes to seal the fate of the bottom-placed team.
The first goal came with a fantastic strike from outside the box in the 6th minute; the second followed a defensive lapse from the opposition in the 34th minute; the third was another thunderous shot from outside the box, and the fourth, early in the second half, concluding a great team move that also involved Mert Müldür.
The league's top scorer, Edin Dzeko, didn't want to miss out on the party and also contributed, scoring in the 45+1 minute, tallying 12 goals so far in the Turkish top flight. The only goal for the hosts came from Muammer Sarikaya in the 32nd minute, briefly hopeful for a possible equalizer.
This victory continues to solidify Fenerbahce's position as the overall league leaders, with 47 points and a goal difference of +34, while on the other hand, Istanbulspor remains rooted at the bottom with a mere five points
