Besiktas Fire Emirhan Delibas for Using a Dating App
After his presence on the app came to light, the Turkish club terminated his contract. The player claimed it's a fake profile.
Besiktas dismissed Emirhan Delibas, but in this case it was not due to his poor performance or anything related to his football abilities. He was dismissed, rather, for appearing on a well-known dating app called Bumble.
In the profile that came to light, a photograph of the Turkish player posing in front of a mirror with a cup and wearing Besiktas training clothes can be seen.
Furthermore, his profile information states that he is a professional player for Besiktas, although the age listed is 24 years old, when in reality he is 21.
The Turkish club announced on their social media the termination of the contract with Emirhan Delibas. "By mutual agreement, we part ways with professional footballer Emirhan Delibas. We wish him success in his future career," read the post from the fourth-placed team in the Süper Lig.
For his part, Delibas claimed that it is a fake profile. "I reject the allegations made by fake accounts and want to make it clear that my loyalty to my team cannot be questioned. Besiktas is a responsibility for me. Your love has been my greatest motivation," he wrote on his Instagram account.
