Mauricio Pochettino: "I Am Not a Clown"
When asked about complaints from some Chelsea fans that the Argentine doesn't connect with them, the Chelsea coach responded firmly.
Chelsea secured a dramatic victory in the Premier League against Manchester United (4-3) with a late double from Palmer in stoppage time, turning around a seemingly lost match.
In the post-match press conference, Mauricio Pochettino deemed it "important" to end as the Blues did, "creating a connection between fans and players."
Precisely about this connection, but between the coach and the fans, the Argentine strategist was questioned. It's worth noting that some Blues fans booed Pochettino and directed unpleasant chants at him in various matches.
Pochettino responded firmly: "I'm not a clown. I'm the coach. If someone wants a clown, they should find one," he declared.
With this victory, Chelsea sits tenth in the table with 43 points from 29 matches played. If they win the pending match, they could even climb to seventh place.
Pochettino considered the triumph against United "should be a turning point" to build confidence between fans and players. Between fans and coach, however, things seem more complicated, given recent events.
