VIDEO | Ligue 1 Highlights: Nice vs PSG
PSG secured another victory in a postponed match from Matchday 32 of Ligue 1. The team led by Luis Enrique defeated Nice 1-2 in a competition where they have already been crowned champions and only one match remains to be played.
The squad managed by Italian Francesco Farioli, who came into the game with two consecutive wins, paid the price for a poor start, conceding two goals early on, their lack of accuracy afterward, and especially the expulsion of Melvin Bard fifteen minutes from the end, which ruined any chances of a comeback.
Regardless of the outcome in the final matchday, Nice will finish fifth in Ligue 1, securing a Europa League spot. They won't be able to catch up to fourth-placed Brest, nor will they be overtaken by sixth-placed Lens.
Kylian Mbappé sat out the postponed match of the thirty-fourth matchday due to "some discomfort in his left hamstring," which also kept him from training on Tuesday. The PSG star only has two games left with the club: the last league match against Metz and the French Cup final against Lyon.
Nice failed to capitalize on PSG's defensive vulnerabilities and relaxation, with the Parisians fielding a squad full of rotation players decided by Luis Enrique. Kephren Thuram hit the post in the sixth minute, with Marquinhos being held responsible for the action.
However, Farioli's side showed defensive weaknesses. PSG quickly settled the match within five minutes. They took the lead in the 19th minute when Bradley Barcola capitalized on a mistake by Jordan Lotomba, played a one-two with Fabian Ruiz, and finished perfectly. The second goal came in the 24th minute, courtesy of a fantastic individual effort from Barcola, who dribbled past his opponent. He sent a cross to the far post where young Yoram Zague, celebrating his eighteenth birthday, made the most of the opportunity. The young defender turned eighteen today.
Nice, in a hurry to respond, shortened the deficit after half an hour. A ball was stolen in PSG's build-up, and Jeremy Boga found Mohamed Cho inside the box, who shot and beat Arnau Tenas.
