VIDEO | Ligue 1 Highlights: Marseille vs Nice
Nice, despite playing with a man advantage for the entire second half due to the expulsion of Faris Moumbagna, managed to secure a hard-fought draw at the Vélodrome Stadium against Olympique Marseille (2-2). With Lille's defeat in Monaco (1-0), they kept their chances alive of reaching the fourth and final spot for the next edition of the Champions League.
Only four points separate Nicd from Lille, a gap that can be closed with twelve points still up for grabs. Although they couldn't secure a win, they earned an important point to keep their dream of participating in the top continental competition alive.
On the other hand, the draw condemned Marseille, who ended the matchday five points adrift of the last European spot, currently held by Lens. Despite taking the lead with a little over half an hour remaining, Moumbagna's dismissal just before halftime proved costly for Marseille. Nevertheless, they managed to overturn Teremas Moffi's early goal with strikes from Jonathan Clauss and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the penalty spot in the 60th minute.
However, Melvin Bard leveled the score with a superb long-range strike in the 72nd minute, earning a point for Nice and keeping their Champions League hopes alive against a Marseille side that played the entire second half with a man down.
