Maripán: The Latin Blood that Permeates Monaco
Guillermo Maripán, one of the captains of AS Monaco, stands out as a leader of the team from the backline, revealing the Andean warrior spirit within him.
"It is a pride and a great responsibility to be one of the captains of AS Monaco. I am very happy and I represent the club in the best way," he declared to beIN SPORTS.
Born in San Miguel, Chile, Maripán not only provides defensive solidity but also contributes offensively. Last season, he became the central defender with the highest goal contribution in the major leagues (4 goals in all competitions, 3 in Ligue 1) and an assist.
Moreover, he has already scored a goal against PSG in the 2020-21 season, one that secured victory (0-2) for Monaco against the Parisian team. Now, looking ahead to this Friday's match, he recalls it with satisfaction.
"Yes, it's one of the nice memories I have, to have scored and won that match, and to have helped the team achieve the objective," the Chilean stated in an interview with beIN SPORTS.
The eyes of French football
will be on the Principality this weekend. AS Monaco hosts PSG in the most important match of Matchday 24: "It's a very tough match, they are a great team with great players, but we always know how to play very well and we hope to get the victory this Friday."
Despite the 13-point difference between AS Monaco and PSG, Maripán's team knows that a victory would allow them to climb to second place and get closer to the Champions League next year.
