Simeone on Racism: "We All Need to Improve"
The coach of Atlético Madrid, Diego Simeone, emphasized the importance of the match against Villarreal, a rival that "knows what they're doing." Additionally, he mentioned that the jeers aimed at Álvaro Morata with the Spanish national team will provide him with "motivation" and addressed the recent incidents of racism in Spanish football.
"The players have returned well from their national teams, thank God, and those who stayed here training for these two weeks have worked with a lot of enthusiasm and dedication. We have a very important match against a rival that knows how to play, that understands very well what their coach has proposed since he arrived," he explained, referring to Marcelino García, the Villarreal coach.
On the other hand, the coach of Atlético Madrid expressed that "it depends on the entire society, not just one person," and that everyone needs to "improve," when asked about the recent episodes of racism in Spanish football that occurred on Saturday in both the Getafe-Sevilla and Sestao-Rayo Majadahonda matches.
"It's difficult to keep talking about the same things we've been discussing for a long time. It depends on everyone, not just one person, it depends on the whole society, and obviously, we all need to improve," valued the Argentine coach during the press conference.
