Guardiola to Return to Barcelona – As President?
A situation that might really excite Barcelona fans would be Pep Guardiola returning to the Catalan club, this time as the club president.
During an interview with Aitana Bonmatí for the TV3 documentary dedicated to the FC Barcelona midfielder, Pep Guardiola dropped a unique and emotional line for all those Barça fans. But hey, so far it's just been talk and banter between these two Catalan celebrities.
During this dialogue between the current Women's Ballon d'Or winner and one of the best coaches on the planet, the conversation shifted towards what the future of Barcelona could look like with them playing significant roles.
"I'll be there, and you'll be coaching until you're 80...," Aitana suggests, moments before proposing Guardiola's return to the Barcelona dugout. Pep interrupts her and says, "I said I could, but I assure you I won't be coaching until I'm 80," commented Pep. However, Guardiola made one thing clear to Aitana, dropping the emotional line for the Culés by affirming the following:
"Don't worry, I'll come for free. The problem is that I'll be the president and I'll be the one signing you as the sporting director, that's the change we'll make. Let's see who makes the offer to whom," commented the current Manchester City manager.
On the other hand, Pep assured Aitana that she would excel as a coach and he sees her more in that position than as a sporting director. "You'll end up being a coach. Because you'll be up there, and you'll see things you'll want to do, and you won't be able to. The closest thing to being a player is being a coach," Pep affirmed.
