Ancelotti Praises Xavi's Decision to Stay with Barcelona
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke positively about Xavi Hernández's decision to stay on as Barcelona's manager.
Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid, praised Xavi Hernández's decision to stay as Barcelona's manager, calling it a "correct decision" and acknowledging Xavi's good work.
"Xavi has done a good job at Barcelona, he knows the club very well, and it seems like the correct decision for him to stay," Ancelotti said during his press conference when asked about Xavi's reversal of his earlier announcement to leave at the end of the season.
Ancelotti downplayed the significance of Xavi's change of mind, admitting he himself has had several similar changes throughout his career.
"Everything is important," Ancelotti said when asked about whether the signed contract or one's word holds more weight. "We must respect changes in opinions; it's okay, there's nothing written. I have often changed my mind throughout my career. Changing one's opinion is a sign of success and is allowed."
Ancelotti was more succinct when responding to Barcelona president Joan Laporta's statement about the possibility of replaying the El Clásico if there is evidence that Lamine Yamal's "phantom goal" had crossed the line. "It's an opinion; I don't comment on opinions," the Italian coach remarked.
