Teams Boca Want to Avoid from Libertadores
With just two matchdays left in the regular phase of the Copa Sudamericana, Boca depends on itself to finish first in Group D.
Following their victory in the fourth matchday of the Copa Sudamericana against Sportivo Trinidense, Boca Juniors currently sits in second place in Group D with 7 points, just below Fortaleza, who leads with a total of 9 points after a 4-1 loss to Nación Potosí.
At this point, being in second place in their group, Boca would face a Round of 32 match against a team dropping down from the Libertadores, strong opponents they'll want to avoid at all costs.
Right now, Boca has control in its hands and the chance to qualify as the Group D winner. Next week in matchday five, they'll host Fortaleza at La Bombonera, and then they'll wrap up the regular phase of the tournament by facing Nacional Potosí in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
If they finish first in the group, Boca not only advances directly to the Round of 16 but also avoids facing a strong team dropping down from the Libertadores.
Teams that could drop from the Libertadores to the Sudamericana (with two matchdays left to play):
- Flamengo
- Estudiantes
- Rosario Central
- Colo Colo
- Barcelona SC
- Universitario
- Liverpool
- Libertad
