With a brace from Colombian Miguel Ángel Borja, River Plate secured their spot in the Round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores, after defeating Libertad from Paraguay 2-0 in the fifth match of the Group Stage.

The match started with absolute dominance from the home team, but it wasn't until the 41st minute that River opened the scoring, following a spectacular control by Colombian Miguel Ángel Borja, after a cross from Milton Casco and with an impeccable finish.

In the second half, Libertad came out seeking the equalizer, and in the 47th minute, a subtle shot from Roque Santa Cruz demanded a save from Franco Armani. Eight minutes later, Ignacio Fernández almost extended the lead with a free-kick that hit the right post of Morinigo.

Once again, Borja sealed the scoreline in the 84th minute, with a great dribble to break free and unleash a spectacular right-footed shot that thrilled the more than 81 thousand fans who filled the Monumental stadium.

With this victory, River Plate became the absolute leader of Group H with 13 points, while Libertad dropped to third place with four points, awaiting the match this Wednesday between Deportivo Táchira, last with one point, and Nacional from Uruguay, second with seven points.

In addition to the three points decorating their path in the continental competition, the "Millonario" also secured their spot in the upcoming 2025 Club World Cup.
