Millonarios and Flamengo are Gearing Up for a Showdown in the Copa Libertadores
Millonarios will return to play in the Copa Libertadores group stage after six years and will debut this Tuesday in Bogota against Flamengo, who are motivated by their 0-3 victory in the first leg of the Carioca tournament final.
Don't miss Millonarios vs. Flamengo on Tuesday, April 2nd, starting at 5:55 PM ET / 2:55 PM PT live on beIN SPORTS
The match for the first round of Group E in the Copa Libertadores will take place at El Campín Stadium in the Colombian capital, with a stage set up in the background as singer Karol G is scheduled to perform there this week. Due to this event, several stands have not been enabled.
The Bogota-based team enters this game in a very irregular semester where they haven't been able to showcase their best football, reflected in the league where they currently sit in ninth place with 19 points and one more match played than their rivals.
For the match against Flamengo, coach Alberto Gamero will have to deal with several significant absences, including center-back Andrés Llinás, left-back Danovis Banguero, and defender Jorge Arias. Therefore, the coach will likely rely on youth player Jhoan Hernández as the starting left-back.
Nevertheless, he will have the rest of his squad available for this match, including goalkeeper Álvaro Montero, Costa Rican center-back Juan Pablo Vargas, veteran midfielder David Macalister Silva, Argentine Santiago Giordana, and forward Leonardo Castro.
On the other hand, Flamengo traveled to Bogota on Sunday to prepare for the match against Millonarios.
Coach Tite, former Brazil national team coach, will have 24 players for this match, including Argentine goalkeeper Agustín Rossi, defenders Fabricio Bruno, Leo Pereira, and Guillermo Varela, the Uruguayan international.
Also included are Chilean midfielder Erick Pulgar and Uruguayan midfielders Giorgian de Arrascaeta and Nicolás de la Cruz, as well as Brazilian internationals Everton Cebolinha and Pedro.
The Brazilian team, who will also compete for the Carioca championship title over the weekend, boasts an undefeated streak of 14 matches this season, comprising 10 wins and four draws.
