Germán Cano's Brace Rescues Fluminense Against Internacional
Everything ended in a draw during the first leg of the Copa Libertadores semifinals; now, it will all be decided in Porto Alegre.
Fluminense, who played half of the match with one player less due to Samuel Xavier's expulsion, managed to secure a 2-2 draw against Internacional in the first leg of the all-Brazilian semifinal in the Copa Libertadores.
The 'colorado' team from Porto Alegre, which initially fell behind but came back with goals from Spanish defender Hugo Mallo and top scorer Alan Patrick, capitalized on their numerical advantage on the field to leave Maracanã Stadium with an important away draw.
Both clubs will have to determine one of the Libertadores finalists on October 4th in the return leg. Although the series is open, and the winner will advance with any scoreline, Internacional will have the advantage of playing at home at Beira-Rio Stadium in Porto Alegre.
The victor will face the winner of the series between the Brazilian team Palmeiras and Argentine side Boca Juniors in the Libertadores final.
