Concern in Madrid and Brazil: Endrick Exits Injured
Endrick, a forward for Palmeiras and a future player for Real Madrid, had to be carried off on a stretcher, apparently with a muscular injury, during the Copa Libertadores match against Independiente del Valle.
The number 9 requested a substitution around the 60th minute and lay on the turf of São Paulo's Allianz Parque with his right leg extended and his hands on his head until the medical staff of the green and white team arrived.
The attacker was then lifted onto a stretcher and taken on a medical cart to the local bench, at a moment when Palmeiras was leading 2-0.
There, he took a few limping steps to one of the seats on the local reserve bench, where he was visibly concerned. Shortly after, he applied an ice pack to the groin region.
This setback with Endrick comes practically a month before the Copa América in the United States, which begins on June 20.
Endrick, 17, was included in the call-up announced by Brazilian coach Dorival Júnior last Friday.
Asked about Endrick's presence on the list, Dorival highlighted that the forward had already been a "protagonist" in "major achievements" with Palmeiras and that he had positively entered the senior team against England and Spain. Should Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team be worried?
