Arturo Vidal and Colo Colo Will Fight to the Death for the Libertadores
Midfielder and star of Colo Colo, Arturo Vidal, expressed satisfaction with the opponents in Group A that the Chilean team got in the 2024 Copa Libertadores, describing it as a "tough group" after being paired with the current champion Fluminense.
"We will go and fight to the death. I loved it," he said during a live stream on his Twitch channel, adding comments about the other Chilean clubs in the competition: "Cobresal's team is tough, right? It's evenly matched. Huachipato has a good group. Palestino, yes, also. Let's fight to the death."
In interaction with his followers, the 36-year-old midfielder, who played in Brazil with Flamengo and Athletico Paranaense before returning to Chilean football, issued a warning to the Brazilian rival 'Flu' and defending champions.
"I know them. I have several friends there like Renato Augusto and Douglas Costa. But just wait. I can't wait to see Marcelo against Zavala or Bolados, I want to see it when they run past him," 'King' assured.
Vidal praised the performance of his teammates, attackers Cristián Zavala and Marcos Bolados, in the preliminary phase where 'Cacique' surpassed Argentine Godoy Cruz and Paraguayan Sportivo Trinidense to reach the group stage of the continental tournament, for which both were called up to the Chilean national team by coach Ricardo Gareca for the friendlies against Albania and France.
The midfielder also reassured about his physical condition, as he has had muscular problems in his left leg at the start of the season, preventing him from playing regularly in both the Chilean league and the Libertadores preliminary phase.
"Stay calm, people, we will arrive as machines for the Libertadores," he said, mentioning that he will use the FIFA break to continue his physical conditioning, after Gareca stated that he didn't call him up to the national team to assist in his preparation.
