The Reason Behind Why Valverde Didn't Shoot His Penalty
Fede Valverde, after Real Madrid's qualification to the Champions League semi-finals by eliminating Manchester City, revealed the keys to this heroic feat by the Merengues.
According to the Uruguayan midfielder, speaking to ESPN Uruguay, the key was that "Real Madrid is always Real Madrid in these types of matches," and they once again demonstrated it in this edition of the Champions League.
Additionally, Valverde admitted that the second-leg game against City, where they secured victory in penalties, is the most exhausting game he has ever played in his life; this is why he did not take his penalty shot.
"In my life, I think I had never played such a tiring match! If one does not feel well, admitting it doesn't make you less of a footballer. And I believe that at that moment, you also have to put aside pride and ego, and if I am not prepared for this moment, I leave it to another teammate," stated Valverde.
