Germany's Preliminary Squad for Euro 2024
Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos leads the preliminary list of 27 players announced by coach Julian Nagelsmann for the upcoming Euro Cup to be hosted by the Central European country.
The squad, of which 18 players were already known as announced by the DFB earlier this week on social media, consists of four goalkeepers, nine defenders, nine midfielders, and five forwards.
In total, there are 27 players, of whom the German coach will have to discard one before the start of the tournament.
Nagelsmann justified the inclusion of the four goalkeepers by saying that there are exercises where he will always need at least one of them and that they don't necessarily have to be Manuel Neuer or Marc André ter Stegen.
He also said he would take advantage of the possibility to bring 26 players because he wants to have the opportunity to practice 11-a-side situations in every training session.
In addition to Toni Kroos, his Real Madrid teammate Antonio Rüdiger and Barcelona's Marc André Ter Stegen and Ilkay Gündogan are also included in the list.
The following is the complete list of the call-up:
