Cameroon Announces 27-Man Squad For Africa Cup Of Nations
The Cameroonian National Football Team has unveiled its 27-player roster for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024. In this tournament, the Lions will strive for their sixth continental title.
Despite exiting in the Group Stage at Qatar 2022, the Africans performed reasonably well, securing four points and notably defeating Brazil 1-0 in a group that also featured Serbia and Switzerland. Rigobert Song will continue as the coach for this competition.
The squad comprises four goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, and eight forwards. Notable players include André Onana from Manchester United, Frank Anguissa from Napoli, and Vincent Aboubakar from Besiktas, who had an impressive showing in the World Cup with two goals and an assist.
France contributed the most players to the squad, with eight from Ligue 1, one from Ligue 2, and one from the Championnat National (third division). From the local Cameroonian league, there are only two players, including 17-year-old Wilfried Doulla from Victoria United, who gained attention for appearing older than his age.
