Agustín Tapia from Argentina and Arturo Coello from Valladolid won the first 'Major' of the 2024 Premier Padel Circuit, held in Qatar, by defeating the pair of Javi Garrido from Córdoba and Miguel Yanguas from Málaga in straight sets (6-0 and 6-2).
The Andalusian duo fought until the end against Coello and Tapia, the number one pair in this global circuit, but without reward, after showcasing a dream run through the 'Premier Padel Qatar Major 2024' tournament until the final, where they succumbed to one of the current best paddle pairs in the world.
Garrido and Yanguas, who secured a spot in the final by defeating the Argentine pair Franco Stupaczuk and Martín Di Nenno 6-2 and 7-6 (4) in the semifinals, faced a tough challenge against another Argentine, Agustín Tapia, and the Valladolid-native Arturo Coello, who left them with no chance in the final of the second Premier Padel 2024 tournament.
From the beginning of the first set, it was evident that the Andalusians would have a tough time against one of the most in-form pairs in this sport, who quickly sealed the set with a resounding 6-0 against the overwhelmed Garrido and Yanguas.
In the second set, the Cordovan and the Malagueño sought to rediscover their best form and pose a greater challenge to their opponents, but it was impossible to stop the onslaught formed by Coello and Tapia, who eventually closed the match with a decisive 6-2, securing the tournament title and leaving the Andalusians with a bitter taste.
