Spanish Arturo Coello and Argentine Agustín Tapia were crowned champions of the Premier Padel Acapulco tournament, marking the farewell as a pair of the Iberian duo Juan Lebrón Chincoa and Alejandro Galán.
Coello and Tapia claimed their second title of the year with scores of 6-0 and 6-4 against Lebrón and Galán, who had played together for four years.
In the final of the tournament in Acapulco, Coello and Tapia swept through the first set. Galán started hastily, conceding a break in the first game to the opposing pair.
The confusion of Lebrón-Galán continued with another break in the third game due to the excellent level of play from the Valladolid native and the speed of the Catamarca-born player.
The 6-0 sweep in the first set was completed with another break in the fifth game and a spectacular finish from Agustín Tapia.
In the second set, the Spanish duo regained their dominance and maintained parity until the fourth game, when Tapia's precision led to another break in the fifth game, once again affecting the confidence of the departing pair.
The expressions of concern on the faces of Lebrón Chincoa and Galán Romo turned into smiles of disbelief at the disadvantage of 5-4 and the possibility of losing in two consecutive sets.
The situation was confirmed with a superb performance from 24-year-old Agustín Tapia and 22-year-old Arturo Coello, sealing a 6-4 victory in the second set and establishing themselves as the new dominant pair in paddle tennis.
At the end of the match, the winners thanked Lebrón and Galán for helping them improve their level.
"I am happy for the team we have formed. I thank Juan and Alejandro for making us better, for defeating two players who have always won," said Coello.
"Thanks to Lebrón and Galán for pushing us to give our all; we are proud of the title," said Tapia.
