Heartbreak for Ireland as Rodák saves the day for Slovakia
Slovakia progressed to the final qualifying game of the Euro 2020 qualifiers as they triumphed 4-2 on penalties against the Republic of Ireland.
Keeper Marek Rodák was the hero for the home side, saving Alan Browne's penalty before Matt Docherty smashed the ball against the post to deny the Irish at the death.
It was a tame and tetchy encounter in Slovakia, but Ireland came the closest to breaking the deadlock as Robbie Brady hit the post in extra-time. However, the night belonged to the Slovakians, much to the lament of the Irish as Rodák who came in as a late replacement Martin Dúbravka saved the day.
