Minella wins twice in a day to reach Bol last eight
Varvara Lepchenko tumbled out of the Bol Open in the second round as Mandy Minella won twice in the same day.
Mandy Minella claimed two victories in a day to reach the quarter-finals of the Bol Open on Thursday.
Minella overcame Evgeniya Rodina 6-3 1-6 7-5 in her first-round match before shocking second Varvara Lepchenko 6-1 6-7 (4-7) 6-4.
While Lepchenko crashed out, fourth seed Nao Hibino and fifth seed Ana Konjuh defeated Ivana Jorovic and Ipek Soylu in straight sets, with seventh seed Polona Hercog drubbing Elitsa Kostova 6-1 6-0.
Elsewhere in the draw, there were wins for Stefanie Voegele, Tereza Mrdeza, Marina Erakovic and Kristina Kucova.
