Copa America hosts Brazil eased to a 3-0 victory over Bolivia in their opening game on Saturday morning. Two early second-half goals from Phillipe Coutinho and a fantastic solo effort from substitute Everton settled the tie in the favour of selecao.
Brazil took control in the early exchanges and realistically should have taken the lead within the twelfth minute as Thiago Silva was left unmarked in the box. The header from the PSG skimmed just wide. Brazil continued to probe, but without a clear breakthrough.
Bolivia, the lowest ranked South American side in the tournament showed little endeavour; although Fernando Saucedo did pick up a yellow card after a VAR review for a challenge on Thiago Silva. The first half ended 0-0, and murmurs of discontent rang around the Morumbi stadium.
Expectations are high on Brazil to go all the well on home soil, and the selecao wasted little time after the break to take the lead. With 50 minutes on the clock, Phillipe Coutinho drilled home from the penalty spot, after Bolivian defender Adrian Jusino was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box. After a check with VAR, the penalty was given and Coutinho was clinical from twelve yards.
Three minutes later, Brazil put the contest beyond doubt with the best passage of play in the game. Roberto Firmino drifted in a perfect cross into the centre of the penalty area and Coutinho was on hand to nod in his second of the game from close range.
Tite’s side continued to press their advantage and deservedly scored a third with ten minutes left in the tie. Substitute Everton cut inside from the left wing, evaded two defenders before smashing the ball past a motionless Carlos Lampe. Brazil will now be looking to book their place in the quarter-finals with a win over Venezuela. As for Bolivia, they will face off against Peru to keep their knockout phase hopes alive.

Peep! Let's get this Copa America party started!
Team news! First up Brazil! The big news is that Gabriel Jesus is on the bench, with Roberto Firmino leading the line! Ajax youngster David Neres gets the nod on the right wing, whilst Phillippe Coutinho plays in midfield and will be the likely replacement for Neymar as playmaker.
So no Neymar for Brazil, who has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Can the samba boys survive without their leading goalscorer?
The Estádio Morumbi is primed and ready! We kick off at 3:30 Mecca!
What about Bolivia? Well, they have not made it out of the group stage in six of the last seven Copa America's! More importantly, I'm getting reports that Zebras help people cross the road in La Paz. More when I get it. Thanks and maximum respect to Gregory Keane for this vital update.
Just over an hour till kick-off in Sao Paulo! Can Brazil get the win?
Brazil should be in this fine looking kit today. What a beauty!
