Curry sarcastically apologises for Warriors being so good
Steph Curry and Draymond Green responded to critics, who have played down the Golden State Warriors' NBA championship.
Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has hit back at the criticism of his team by sarcastically apologising for their triumphant 2014-15 NBA campaign.
The Warriors upstaged the Cleveland Cavaliers en route to their first NBA title in 40 years but the achievement has been under attack from rival teams.
Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers claimed: "You need luck in the West. Look at Golden State. They didn't have to play us or the Spurs."
Warriors pair Klay Thompson and Andrew Bogut hit back on Friday and NBA MVP Curry joined his team-mates in responding on Tuesday, albeit a little differently.
"I just want to say, I apologise for us being healthy. I apologise for us playing who's in front of us," Curry said.
"I apologise for all the accolades we've received as a team and individually. I'm very, truly sorry.
"We'll rectify that situation this year."
While Curry was giving sarcastic responses, Warriors team-mate Draymond Green countered in a way only he can.
"It's funny. It's like a bitter female. Like, you ever dealt with a bitter female that's just scorned? God! That's rough," he said.
"When you're dealing with a bitter female that's scorned, that's one of the worst things in the world. And God, that's bad."
He continued by saying other teams and coaches in the league did not take cheap shots at them like Rivers.
"[Spurs coach] Gregg Popovich didn't say that. That's one organisation that I really respect. And you haven't heard anybody in their camp say that," he said.
"You ain't heard anybody from OKC [Oklahoma City Thunder] say that. Some of the organisations that I really respect."
Green added: "That just lets you know how many people didn't want to see us win. Because they're sick.
"People hate change. People don't accept change well. They're used to [Golden State] just floating around the bottom of the league."
