Côte d’Ivoire controlled the most important moments of the match and found the breakthrough just as the first half appeared destined to end goalless.

In the 44th minute, Ines Konan assisted Nsira Ouedraogo, who finished to score the opening goal and send the Elephants into halftime with the lead.

Konan doubles the advantage from the penalty spot

Tanzania made changes during the second half in an attempt to regain energy and find the equalizer, but Côte d’Ivoire remained organized and composed.

The pressure on the Twiga Stars increased in the 68th minute, when the Ivorians were awarded a penalty.

Ines Konan converted from the spot and capped a decisive performance after also contributing to the opening goal.

Tanzania’s response comes too late

Tanzania continued to attack during the closing minutes and refused to give up their fight for a place in the next round.

Their reward arrived in the ninth minute of stoppage time, when Diana Msewa scored from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit.

The goal meant Tanzania finished the group stage having scored in every match, but there was not enough time left to find the equalizer.

The Elephants keep the dream alive

Côte d’Ivoire will enter the quarterfinals as one of the biggest revelations of the WAFCON 2026.

Reynald Pedros’ side have demonstrated attacking quality, tactical discipline and the ability to deliver in decisive moments.
