As news of the resignation began to spread, Fenerbahçe president Aziz Yildirim appeared before the media with a completely different position. For the club’s president, Ismail Kartal remains the head coach.

Yildirim said he had spoken directly with the manager and argued that the resignation was largely connected to the pressure experienced during the match. The president also revealed an incident that may have worsened Kartal’s emotional state: a bottle was thrown at the coach’s head during the game.

“He is upset about that,” Yildirim explained, adding that the manager had also told him he was feeling under pressure.

But the president went even further. Rather than describing a split, he insisted that Kartal remains in his position and that the club must support him during a difficult moment.

Fenerbahçe Faces Mounting Pressure

The club has finished second in the Turkish league for the past five seasons, a run that has increased expectations at an institution determined to reclaim the domestic title. At the same time, Fenerbahçe returned to the league phase of the Champions League after a lengthy absence, reaching this stage for the first time in 18 years.

The president also directly addressed the atmosphere of pressure surrounding the club. According to his comments, players and coaching staff are being affected by expectations and criticism on social media.
